He is the Director of Theological and Pastoral Education of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, and the Director of the Antiochian House of Studies, in addition to his pastoral work as priest of St. Anthony Orthodox Church. He hold a PhD from the General Theological Seminary in New York. He occupied various teaching positions in the field of Pastoral Theology in Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and St. Vladimir Orthodox Seminary. He is also an adjunct professor of theology at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in which he teaches the Doctor of Ministry courses.
Fr. Joseph serves in different theological committees and societies such as the Orthodox Theological Society of America, the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Chaplaincy Committee, the Theology in Global Context Association, and the Orthodox Study Bible Committee.
